DAWN CRETEN

MEET THE DRIVER

DAWN CRETEN

As a mother of four, Dawn Creten balances the everyday mom duties: getting the kids ready for school, cooking dinner, and flying a 10,000-pound monster truck. That last one isn’t typical for most moms, but at the Creten household, it’s second nature. Dawn has been part of the monster truck world since 1997, after a chance meeting with her now-husband Jimmy at the North Dakota State Fair following an event. She quickly dove headfirst into the sport and eventually found herself behind the wheel. With every event, Creten grew sharper, more confident, and impossible to ignore. Fellow drivers and fans alike took notice, and as her following grew, so did her reputation as a serious competitor ready to dominate.

In 2003, Dawn claimed her first major stadium racing victory in Vancouver, British Columbia, and pushed multi-time World Champion Tom Meents to the limit in a photo finish in Minneapolis. She followed that with another stadium victory in Phoenix the following year, proving her success wasn’t a fluke. In 2005, Creten did it again, defeating her husband Jimmy and the Bounty Hunter in Phoenix for the racing win. That same year, she earned her first Monster Jam World Finals invitation and delivered a strong sixth-place freestyle finish against the sport’s top drivers.

While Dawn has taken time off from driving Scarlet Bandit for the births of her children, it has never dulled her skill behind the wheel. In 2007, she returned to the Monster Jam World Finals after stellar performances in major stadium events, showing that her talent and determination were as sharp as ever.

In 2008, just after her husband narrowly missed the World Finals racing championship, Creten took to the freestyle course and unleashed an incredible run that had Sam Boyd Stadium roaring. Her freestyle performance that night ranked her second among the best in the industry, proving she could compete with anyone. Today, Dawn Creten continues to be one of the sport’s top female monster truck drivers, commanding respect, fear, and admiration every time she hits the track, and reminding everyone why she’s a true legend in the world of monster trucks.
